Are you Dehydrated after your cycling?

Glass with water being poured into itThe single most important item a cyclist can pack is water.  You don’t need to be a hard core cyclist to make water the number one item to pack.  Water makes up 70-75% of our tissues, and dehydration will leave you feeling lethargic and susceptible to joint injury; so if nothing else, make sure you have enough water for your excursion.  You’ll enjoy your ride more if you’re hydrated, and you’ll feel stronger on your ride....

Man drinking Water from a water bottleAccording to Dan Trink of Peak Performance NYC, the intake depends on how much an individual perspires and their metabolism, but if the individual is hydrated before the endurance activity, 7-10 oz of water for every 10-20 minutes of exercise should keep you hydrated.  A tell tale sign that you did not drink enough water is weigh lose after cycling.  This indicates you didn’t drink enough, and you have lost precious water while you exercised.  Did I also mention that you need water for proper digestion to occur?   Remember, water is on the top of the list for cycling gear.
